“AGM Batteries have very good relationships with most of the UK Universities involved in lithium cell and battery development and research and we are very keen to promote strong links to the University of the Highland and Islands (UHI). Based in Thurso, UHI is our local University so we value the work they do to promote higher level learning in the region and to ensure young people acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to provide the next generation of STEM professionals to support the high technology industries such as renewables and our own innovative work also based in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. We were very pleased and honoured to accept UHI’s latest campaign on local radio station ,MFR to encourage more people to study at UHI and kick off their career in the region. AGM is already very active in local STEM activities with various schools in Caithness having nearly 25% of our workforce qualified as STEM Ambassadors so it makes sense we continue this commitment beyond school into higher education so we are in discussion with UHI to continue this joint initiative as well as exploring some actual collaborative projects. We are very pleased the latest campaign also focusses on attracting more girls into STEM careers such as Engineering, Science and Technology, a topic AGM are very passionate and active about promoting”
